Hello Fairview!
I hope everyone is doing their best to stay healthy, active and continuing to keep social distancing when visiting with close family and friends that are outside of the people you live with. As I am sure most of you have heard, B.C. is now in the 2nd phase of the "Restart Plan." I'm sure this news is exciting to some of you, as school will begin to re-open on a part time basis for families who would like to send their children back. For others, this time might be scary, cause feelings of nervousness, and even a bit of worry. I want to tell you that it is OKAY to feel however you might be feeling. All of your feelings are valid. Acknowledge them. For me, I am excited to be able to start to expand my social circle to close family and friends, but I am still worried about how that will look, and nervous about still potentially being exposed to more people who could be carriers of COVID. Just like you all, I have a million questions and I keep wondering when will this bad dream end... I just keep reminding myself we are all in this together, and it will end... eventually. Please, PLEASE reach out to Ms. Louis or myself if you are having uncertain feelings, or need someone to talk to. We are here!! Okay enough of the COVID-19 talk.... I'm sure you're all wondering "what has Sam been up too" (LOL)? Lately, I have been trying to keep busy around the house. I am still trying to keep active, and get outside as much as possible with my husband and dogs. I have also been guilty of watching too much Netflix (woops)... But recently, I have planted a "Cucamelon" - it is a cucumber/watermelon plant! How cool is that? It grows like a tomato or snap peas would on a vine. I am just waiting now for them to grow so I can start eating them. They are small and taste delicious! I usually am not great with keep plants alive, so hopefully I can take good enough care of my Cucamelon to enjoy the delicious little melons that come off the vine soon (fingers crossed). As for the big exciting news I shared with everyone a couple weeks ago... I am now currently 15 weeks along and the baby is the size of a PEAR!! How incredible?! My belly is growing more round and a bit bigger as each week goes on, and we are getting more and more excited as time goes by. I keep wondering what our dogs, Bruno and Gus must be thinking... do they sense something? What do you guys think? Anyways, I miss you all! I hope you're staying safe and healthy, and I hope to see you soon... Love, Sam

Hi my beautiful Fairview family!
MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU (Happy Star Wars Day)! I hope you are all keeping busy, & are getting outside daily to get some fresh air. Kind of like we would be if we were at school. Daily fresh air is very important even if its to read a book outside of your house, going for a walk with your family or your pet, riding your bike, jump in some puddles, or just to dance in the rain! I hope you are all trying your best & do what school work you can, & if you can't do much or any of it know that that's okay too. Please try to connect with your teacher or Ms. Louis and I to just say hello. If you are needing help with anything or don't understand something, please reach out for help - we are ALWAYS here for you! Now... you're all probably wondering what this BIG NEWS!!!! I have for you is... I have been extremely excited to share this news with all of you & it has been hard to keep this a secret but... My husband, Gavin & I are about to start a family of our own! I am going to be a mum in November!!! We are so so SOOOOOOOO excited, & our dogs are excited to become big fur brothers too! I was really excited to be able to share this BIG NEWS with you all in person, but because of our current situation today, I figured this would be the best way to share with you all instead. If you have any exciting news to share with Ms. Louis or myself we would LOVE to hear all about it!!! I am thinking about you all. I hope you are staying healthy & safe! Sending you all a BIG virtual hug!! XO Hello Fairview Community!
Many have you have probably developed some sort of a routine by now. Sam and I have been able to reach out to quite a few students and families. It has been really nice to connect with so many of you. Remember that if you need support, please contact us! I don’t know about you, but I’m finding that with all this extra time at home, I sometimes get bored! I’ve made it my goal to try something new or spend time on hobbies that I often don’t have time for. I challenge you to try something new! If you do, I’d love to hear all about it. Send me an email about what you’ve been up to. This is a picture of my knitting that I started over a year ago, that I recently started working on again! Hi Fairview students!
I miss you all so much, and I want you to know that Sam and I are still here for you. Although we can't see you in person, we're here to support you in any way that we can. If you need somebody to talk to, please go to our Contact page and call or email either one of us. Don't forget that we are in your Google Classrooms as well! We hope you'll take the time to browse our website. Remember to check back from time to time because we will be trying to add new things every week! What have I been up to? Well, thanks for asking :) I've been enjoying my time at home finishing up renovations, and connecting with my friends and family. I have also been making an effort to check in with myself. This is a strange time for a lot of people, and it's natural to experience a wave of different emotions. Rather than pushing those feelings aside, try sitting with them and breathing through it. How/where do you feel it in your body? Think about the things you can control, rather than the things you can't. Try writing down/drawing a picture of your feelings if it becomes too overwhelming, and revisit it later. I hope you're all doing well and staying safe at home. I look forward to hearing from you soon. - Ms. Louis Hi Fairview (and anyone else who may be perusing our website)!
Ms. Louis and I have been thinking a lot about how we could best support & connect with our students & families. We have come up with this awesome idea to create a "one-stop-shop" with a bunch of community resources, tools to use if you are needing support with regulating emotions and/or feelings, & other things we find that bring us joy during this difficult time that we thought we would share. Ms. Louis & I are hoping to keep this website running as an ongoing platform where we can keep sharing our community resources, & posting any new information that we may come across that we think is important to share with you all. Right now, we are all adjusting to this temporary new way of living & it's been challenging for me, as I am sure it has been for most of us. So, during this quarantine time my dogs (Bruno & Gus) are sure happy that they have me home all of the time right now! I have been spending a ton of time around the house with them. I have also been busy with my husband working around our home, & I have been spending as much time as I can enjoying this beautiful sunshine we have been having. To help me validate my feelings & emotions during this time I have also been doing my best to stay active at home, going for walks with my dogs, & I have also started to keep a journal. I have found that writing down my thoughts, feelings, emotions & keeping up to date with our worlds current situation has helped ease my anxiety about everything happening around us. I also thought it would be a good way to share with people in the future about what I remember this time was like for me. I want you all to remember, we are all feeling unsettled, afraid of the unknown, & worried about what is happening in our city, country & to the world. Your feelings are VALID & you are allowed to feel the way you feel. But try to remember, this virus will be gone one day, & we will get through this as a community, a province, a country & throughout the world. Please reach out for help if you need! We have posted community resources along with our information if you are needing someone to talk to during this time. YOU MATTER! XO |
